About the forums

INTRODUCTION

The various programs and forums in ELA serves as a platform that provides public response to the increasing discontent the public has regarding energy, sustainability, climate change issues and its effect it has on the livelihoods of the population. The different forums each with their own agenda synergises with each other to promote access to sustainable energy and livelihoods as well as adequate public responses to all matters regarding climate change and energy issues.

WOMEN IN ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE FORUM

The Women in Energy and Climate Change Forum tackles the energy issues and environmental struggles of women. The forum is working on advocating for climate justice and sustainable energy, regarding issues women are facing on their daily basis. The forum is represented by women from the community based organisations in and around Gauteng Province.

CLIMATE JUSTICE ACTION GROUP

This forum consists of many diverse groups and organizations in and around Gauteng province in a broader social and environmental justice context. Climate Justice Action Group serves as a platform in which people can learn, share and network to form a unified voice for environmental and climate justice. The forum serves as a means for CBO members to convey to their local communities the link between the climate crisis and their daily socio-economic struggles.

YOUTH IN CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY FORUM

The Youth in Climate Change and Energy Forum is a space in which youth from in and around Gauteng learn and more especially take action about climate change and energy issues. It serves as a platform to share information, raise awareness, coordinate activities and mobilise young people to be more aware and involved in environmental matters which affects them daily. YCCEF thus incites an informed resistance to anti- poor energy policies for policies that are poor people orientated.
